Dutch actor Rutger Hauer has passed away at the age of 75.

He portrayed arguably his most memorable character (replicant Roy Batty) in Ridley Scott's sci-fi classic, Blade Runner.

Saddened by this. Much closer to my own age than I would have thought.

Sad news. As well as Blade Runner, movies like Nighthawks & The Hitcher come straight to mind. Also remember him in 'Escape from Sobibor' which I recall being very powerful.

Well, shit. I saw him once pop out of a taxi on Bond Street. Had that idiosyncratic half-smile on his face that you saw so often on the big screen. He'll be remembered forever for his final scene in Blade Runner -- those moments won't be lost forever, like tears in the rain.

He was also very famous in the UK for a while from appearing in Guinness ads. Pure Genius.

LadyHawke (1985) with Matthew Broderick and Michelle Pfeiffer

The Osterman Weekend (1983) with Meg Foster (what stunning eyes!)

Blind Fury (1989) again with Meg Foster

The Blood of Heroes  (1989) with a young Vincent D'Onofrio

Just some of my (other) favourites.
