So there are some more Short Treks coming.  And they're Pike's Enterprise.

That was... bizarre.

I guess just a spoonful of tribbles helps the cordrazine go down...?

I may have injured myself from cringing so hard.

It seems that I have a masochistic streak mixed with morbid curiosity, since I actually bothered to watch this. STAR TREK has already been fatally fucked for quite some time, and so more expensive gobbledygook made by idiots for people who hate STAR TREK is not at all unexpected. All of CBSí smoke and mirrors and announced spin-off projects canít hide the fact that the core fanbase no longer cares. TREK has lost its cultural relevance. To say nothing of the loss of good taste and intelligent writing.

Just let it die, please.

Well Discoveryís ratings and buzz seem to suggest otherwise;
Comicsgate-Esque Echo Chambers notwithstanding.

Can we simply root for the tiny, sick-at-heart-and-sick-in-the-head "let it die, please" crowd to die instead?

Allow me to speak for the "core fanbase" and say that you are absolutely, unequivocally wrong.  We care.  We were here long before you were a zygote and we will be here long after. Do not presume you understand our fandom.  Stop defining us based upon your presumptions and please, for the love of god, stop speaking for us. Just. Stop.  Speak for yourself only.

Thank you.

I don't understand the need to stew, focus your thoughts, write diatribes (and proof-read!), probably read it over 2 or 3 more times for good measure, and possibly even go to bed angry, mulling over movies & TV shows that are guaranteed to get your own goat, every time you think of them.  That sort of constant negativity is no good for the soul.  Move on.

There is plenty of modern product, based on classic shows, movies or characters, that I despise for one reason or another, whether I actually subjected myself to a film or two, or instantly disliked what I saw in ads:  The STAR WARS Prequels & Sequels, most DC movies, any STAR TREK after DS9, the Bay TRANSFORMERS, the Fox Marvel movies, the new Ridley Scott ALIEN movies, etc., etc.

But I either ignore them, or just don't watch them, period.  And I move on.

People may embrace new STAR TREK, or they may loathe it.  Most attempts have not been my cup of tea.  (For the record, PICARD looks decent to me, SHORT TREKS, not so much.)  But if it gives others a bunch of fun and pleasure, who am I to judge?  And when you spend this much time ranting against this or other modern media, you might have to ask yourself, are you angry that this stuff is being made?  Or are you upset that there's still an audience for this, and that no one really pays attention to your angry posts and livid opinions?

Find something you love.  Embrace that.  And move on.  You'll feel better.

(And the same goes for other angry-nerd echo-channels such as Red Letter Media and Midnight's Edge... what used to be fun and insightful at first has gotten woefully tiresome, predictable, repetitive and insufferable.)

I think the Short Treks look really fun, can't wait.

I do wish they just let Ethan Peck keep the beard though. He evoked the character of Spock better with it, somehow, and less so without it.

But yeah, I'm so ready for all of it.....Picard most of all, but the Short Treks, Lower Decks, Discovery Season 3....it's a great and exciting time for this Trek fan.

On a different note, did the Orville thread get deleted? I'm not a viewer of that show but went to the TV forum to check out the discussion of its renewal and can't find the thread about the most recent season.
