Rumours won't go away regarding a likely biopic about Stan (DiCaprio is interested, apparently).
I can only imagine how much controversy this will invoke, bearing in mind the decades-old debate about who should have been given credit for what.
There is a comic shop near me where it seems every staff member actually detests Stan, believing that he took all the credit when (they feel) he contributed very little.
Of course, Mr and Mrs Joe Public won't be aware of this until it hits...

I would love to see it too, but I'm not if anyone living now actually 'knows the truth'.I've seen interviews with many artists and writers over the years that are divided on the subject. Having read about and listened to these sources I have formed my own opinion but at the end of the day that's all it is.

Indeed JB; these guys would only be in their early thirties now too. I did find out that their dislike of Stan stemmed from a convention meeting where he didn't give them the time they wanted, so I guess they jumped on this to fuel their fire.

The great irony... The man who standardized credits being given in comics is accused of not giving credit. •• One of the more ridiculous aspects of this is those who claim Stan "stole credit" for the Silver Surfer from Kirby, when in fact the first time most of us found out the Surfer was Kirby's creation was in SON OF ORIGINS, part 2 of Stan's history of Marvel.

Yep, that's where I first learned about that. Most of this seems to stem from interviewers and articles over the years not giving credit to all involved when introducing Stan, putting the responsibility on Stan to have corrected them at every turn.

Stan caught flak some decades back when an Italian filmmaker referred to him as the creator of Captain America. Some, it seems, expected him to have mental powers on the level of Prof X, to be able to monitor everything said about him!(I've been down this road myself, with much being attributed to me that I did not say or do.)

The thing is, anyone that reads a Stan Lee credited story can see his hallmarks all over the work, no matter which artist he worked with. I'm a huge admirer of Jack Kirby, but I found the stuff he did without Stan to be largely forgettable.

I remember this! And by the time Alan Moore referred to the incident, the story had morphed into Stan actually saying that he had created Cap.
