Going through some old books while cleaning out the garage.

Browsing through a few of Fantastic Four Masterworks books from the 60's through the 80's. One of constants during that time is the inking of Joe Sinnott.

No matter which artist was drawing the FF, his ink style brings a "softness" to pencils that, in my view, gave the Thing that "Fozzie Bear" look which made him look less menacing.

Other inkers that may have worked on the FF, when Joe was not available, gave the Thing a more rough (rocky) look.

I wonder if anyone else on the forum noticed this with Sinnott's style?

The Fozzie-fication of the Thing started while Kirby was still on the book. Over the years, Jack had done cartoony sketches of the Thing, and as is almost inevitable, some of that slopped over into the books.
