Obviously, we could make a long list of things we miss, so for now, let;s limit to comics. Anything at all about comic books that you miss?
A short list of some things I miss...
Curt Swan Jim Aparo John Romita Kurt Schaffenberger Captain Marvel and the Marvel Family The Brave and the Bold DC Comics Presents Showcase Essentials from Marvel Showcase Presents from DC 12 cent comics (they were less, but I'm not that old.) Comic spinners at department stores and some drug stores. No significant previews of upcoming stories Done-in-one stories Honest and truthful super heroes What If-?
So how about you? What was in comics that isn't there now, but that you liked?

JB,
You nailed it! For me, it was fun as a kid growing up during the mid-70's getting hooked on comics.
No internet.
No crazed fanboys at direct-comics stores to ruin the joy.
Just buying books, purchasing some penny cookies and a soda (or making kool-aid) and let my mind drift away in wonder.

Strange as it is to say, the old shit paper. Flat colouring. Self-contained stories. Characters staying on-model. Picking up a title, reading the first couple of pages and not feeling that I had missed a tonne of prior content that was essential to my understanding of what was going on.
Possibly the first time when I started to feel that disconnect was when I hadn't read a Batman title for a few months (must have been when I went off to university, the beginning of the end for me and regular collecting of comics) and someone told me that in Batman, Bruce Wayne had broken his back and someone else in a suit of armour was now Batman. I was like, OK...

I miss concise story telling. Multi issue story lines that are drawn out for dozens of issues with no signs of coming to a conclusion are causing me to quite several books. I have dropped JLA because after 20 issues, they are still working on the same plot as in issue 1. I am about to drop Tom King's Batman for similar reasons - and it only took me five minutes to read the last issue so it's not like there is much density to the story.

That's what I miss the most. Single issues that contain a lot of story and take more than 2 minutes to read.

The sense of adventure. The characters being more important than the creative team. JB on just about any title from the Big Two.
