I would gladly have kept reading REBELS by Tony Bedard and Andy Clarke and Claude St. Aubin for as long as DC kept putting it out but it was cancelled to make way for the New 52 where that version of Vril Dox apparently no longer exists.

Also would've like to have gotten more issues of the original Iron First series by Claremont and Byrne.

I reminded myself of some short-lived, obscure features I definitely could have read more of--

STAR HUNTERS at DC by David Michelinie and (inked by) Bob Layton a good while before they worked on IRON MAN.  (Layton inked good artists like Don Newton for the first few issues and Rich Buckler for the last ones.)

THRILLER at DC by Robert Loren Fleming and Trevor VonEeden.  This was THE book of the moment--a different kind of storytelling, a cool look and premise, in the (then-rare) higher quality Baxter paper.  It was quite promising, and then (I never knew why) the writer and artist were replaced by issue 9 by wildly different talent.  Still frustrating to this day.

CALEB HAMMER at Marvel.  This was just a one-shot Western in MARVEL PREMIERE, but it really grabbed me with the compelling story by Peter Gillis and amazing art by Gene Day inked by Tony DeZuniga.  I guess the character appeared again somewhere, but not by the same team.

SHAZAM drawn by Alan Weiss and inked by Joe Rubinstein!  Again, this was only one issue (#34 of the 70's DC series), and you'd think that art team couldn't possibly work on that character--but it totally did!  The writer continued on the feature with the also wonderful Don Newton drawing, but that one Weiss/Rubinstein issue always made me wonder what might have been.

The various New Gods/Fourth World series by Jack Kirby

X-MEN: THE HIDDEN YEARS, of course. Also, BLOOD OF THE DEMON.

MIRACLEMAN. Still waiting for Gaiman and Buckingham to finish their story after, what, 25 years?

THE THING written by Dan Slott, circa 2005, back when I liked his work. Lasted only ten issues or so.

I'm a fan of Mar-Vell.
I liked a lot the Doug Moench & Pat Broderick run that introduced me to the character, and later loved too what came before, the Starlin stories, and at a lesser degree than those two runs some others.
I discovered that character in the same book as Iron Fist (Star Wars and The Invaders were there too)
I would have liked to read more about both him and the solo adventures of Iron Fist (and his suporting cast, but i didn't like as much Power Man and Iron Fist, which had another sort of stories and set up.)

Brian H: "Thanks for all of the responses, but I do feel
that the purpose of this was lost on some."

*******

I think you're the one who's lost, Brian - you didn't start
this thread! :-)

Not sure these count because these were both miniseries, so I guess by definition they were designed to end.

DC's The New Frontier by Darwyn Cooke

Young Avengers by by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung

Both are series I would have liked more of.

NIGHT FORCE by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan.  Definitely ended way too soon.

DC:

All-Star Comics - The JSA, not the JLA, are my favorite DC team.

Freedom Fighters - The original series.

JB's Doom Patrol

Young Heroes In Love - I'm still convinced the title is what killed the comic.

Marvel:

The Invaders - The original series.

Thunderstrike - To this day, I still wish they had just depowered him and killed off USAgent instead.....

Brian's mention of the JSA took me back to DC's relaunch of the Justice Society of America by Len Strazewski and Mike Parobeck.

This was an ongoing that got cancelled too soon. It was able to honor classic JSA elements and remain fresh.
