JB, have you made models for the mansion and its various rooms?

•••

I made an exterior model of the mansion that I used extensively in HIDDEN YEARS. This was another of my models that I mapped to look like a drawing, so I could do cut-and-paste applications.

However, when XHY was arbitrarily canceled and it seemed unlikely that I’d ever be working with those characters again, I dumped all my x-models.

So, simple answer, no.

Love that angle also!
Kitty's left knee is the closest thing to the reader and it shows!

Regarding Storm's powers, I do not recall, in my reading time, her using extreme air temperature manipulation. Was this a power you used JB?

Storm manipulates “weather”, a nicely generic term.

Yeah, I guess that would be one aspect of her power.
She really could be close to unstoppable.

The pencils on this issue are extraordinary.  There's a tightness to them even more than the prior issue, which I already thought was some of the best art I've seen in years.  That last panel with Storm versus the sentinel and Kitty looking on is amazing.  I'm not an artist, so I lack the precise terms to express why the art is so appealing, so well-structured, and so effective to me -- I just like it.  I wish I could compliment JB in technical terms, but the best I can offer is this is comics done right!  Just fun.

It's great to see these characters on-model in appearance and in characterization after so many years.

That is some image with Kitty and Storm! And a good weekend cliffhanger!

Firing on all cylinders, JB!

Tight pencils. Yeah. With this issue—and what follows—it began to feel more and more as if I was channeling myself from the late 70s, but without losing anything of what I’ve learned in the years since.

Could you talk about a bit about your process with character's clothing, JB? Your characters always seem to have a distinct style to them. All of the characters in these issues are wearing clothing that makes perfect sense for them / people their age.

Mr. Byrne, I very respectfully ask once you complete your X-Men Elsewhen stories (which are GREAT by the way), would you ever consider doing something like this with the Fantastic Four? Picking up where you left off and running with it, just for fun?

I know Marvel approached you years ago but that was then.Once your mutant tales are done, is there any possibility a return to the Baxter Building might intrigue you?

I've been asking myself if there are any other projects I might want to tackle in this manner. Itches left unscratched. The FF are always orbiting. Whether they land remains to be seen!

Making sense pretty much sums it up. What would this character wear? Chris used to have a default setting. Eventually he's ask for everyone in "jeans and a t-shirt." But that didn't seem right for everybody, and that got me thinking about what DID seem right.

Too often artists draw what they think is cool. But that's not necessarily right for the characters. Sue Storm in a micro-bikini with a navel ring, as one example. MJ Watson, sure. But Sue?

There's also a cookie-cutter approach. All the characters have variations on the same build, male or female. That can get in the way of appropriate garb.
