I find the persona that Schrieber frequently projects to be more introverted than I would expect for the Thing and his voice to be too monotonous. To me, he doesn't sound a million miles from Dustin Hoffman.

Put me in the `no' to Schrieber camp, as well.

I think the film is hard to cast simply because the dictates are fairly extreme: Reed absolutely has to convince as being highly intelligent, but he also has to be heroic, and oldish, but not too old, but certainly not young. Sue has to be attractive, but her personality is even more important, she can't be too young, but has to fit into the uniform (as sexist as that sounds) and (in my view) as to have quite a forceful strength of character. Meanwhile, Johnny has to be really damn young, and time waits for no man. Matt Czuchry would have been such a good Torch for many years, but alas he is now 42! You'd need that kind of actor, though, who kind-sorta looks a teen (a Hollywood version anyway) all the way up to 30.

How about Ioan Gruffudd again? He wasn't bad and being a little older would be more Reed-like even today. Recast everyone else.

How about Timothy Olyphant as Reed? I had the thought a while back
while watching SANTA CLARITA DIET on Netflix.

I like that!

I'm trying to think of a good Ben Grimm and David Harbour keeps popping up in my head.

I wouldn't be surprised by this. Kevin Fiege held out for Cumberbatch to become available for Dr. Strange, wouldn't be surprised if this is a similar situation.

Keanu isn't in my top 5 for Reed, but he could surprise us.

I can't see Reeves trading in his newfound popularity for a role as Maximus, as the rumors would have us believe. That would be a bigger mistake than Idris Elba taking on Heimdall. If he held out, maybe he would have been the Black Panther. But then, ten years ago Elba wasn't such a big star, and the Black Panther movie was on nobody's radar.

There's no way I can force my head to believe that Keanu Reeves is in any way right for Reed Richards. Not even in a 'it wasn't what we expected but it turned out OK in a surprising way' kind of way. He is totally wrong for the role.

Apologies for reminding everyone how old they are, but Keanu is going to be nearing his 60s by the time a new FF movie gets off the ground. With RDJ and Chris Evans retired from the MCU, Id imagine Reed would be someone who could play the role for at least 10 years.
