This comic is fantastic. What a treat for X-Men and John Byrne fans. Thank you very much, JB.

Dang JB you're good! Love the today's page. "There's nothing we can do for him." Glad you didn't show the carnage of what's left of Wolverine. I do love he's not doing the insta-heal that we see in movies.

I'm missing thought balloons, this particular scene makes me wonder what is left unsaid.

The last panel of the team racing off is very nice

Not sure just what pertinent thoughts you think might be missing here.

I guess I'm in the Bronze Age mindset where I enjoy reading the character's thoughts... maybe Storm, feeling guilty, is torn and thinks she should stay and protect Logan from predators as he tries to heal.

I know it's not done in today's comics, so I understand the reason why they aren't present tho.

Claremont has brainwashed you. You’re seeking paragraphs of “inner monologs” obscuring the art and slowing the pace of the storytelling.

The very fact that you can IMAGINE Ororo having such thoughts should mean you don’t actually need to “hear” them.

Ha... true these pages are a lot less covered with verbiage, maybe I was brainwashed o so many years ago.

Thanks for getting that fixed

Another excellent page today. While I would be curious seeing everything inked and colored I really do like the pencil only aspect to this story. Somehow it adds to the retro element of the series.

I can see how this story got your creative juices flowing, JB. So far it's definitely a fun read. I'm guessing it was a blast to plot and draw.

“Plot” might be too generous a word, at least for the beginning of this exercise. The first 20 pages (seen elsewhere in their original form) I quite literally made up as I went along, with no real thought of them representing any kind of “first issue”.

Once the possibility of the work actually being published hove into view I substantially reworked the “issue” and real plotting started happening. Which was its own kind of fun.

The Fan Fic board is the first thing I check on the site each day now. It is truly great to have this new X-Men art and story by JB. It's something I never expected to see, and I am enjoying it immensely. I can't say it enough,  thanks for creating and sharing this work with us, JB!

Let’s see how bored you get after eight or 9 issues!

So many of these pages end with a panel that just demands that we turn the page! More comics should be like that.
