I would think that this would fall under parody. Devil's Due is getting some publicity out of it, at least.

I'm reminded of the nuisance suit they launched against Fawcett and Captain Marvel, back in the day. As much as they might wish they do, DC has no claim to generic female warriors. And this version features none of the elements -- colors, stars, eagles, etc -- traditionally associated with Wonder Woman.

This is like saying Spider-Man infringes on Superman.

In the picture shown in Bleeding Cool, AOC is clearly wearing (the movie version of) Wonder Woman's uniform.

That said, DC is being silly.

They have more of a claim to the white pantsuit than to that warrior woman illustration.

What makes me sick is that I just linked to f*ckin' Fox News. Ptui.

Once again, people here are pretending that DC has a choice here. The costume design shown in the alternate cover is clearly that of the film version and if DC does not protect that design, they'll lose it. They have no choice but to ask Devil's Due to Cease and Desist. None whatsoever.

An illustration of the cover in question, so that folks need not link to f*ckin' Fox...

The painted version is definitely pushing it, but here we see how easy it is to parody such distinctive costumes.

Take off the gold acoutrements, and it could just as easily be parodying Xena or any other female warrior character.

If DC has no choice other than to offer a cease a d desist, then why has the company not went after The Sentry, Supreme, Hyperion, and other obvious (even admitted) Superman knock-offs?

That picture above is not the one that has caused the problem. The one that has is clearly the movie Wonder Woman.

So I can see why they have done it. & it would be hard for the publishers to deny they were not deliberately using the movie Wonder Woman as a guide.

That said, it was limited & I had t known about it pre cease & desist. Now it’s everywhere.
So. Good job!
