How many actors have played Tarzan? Sherlock Holmes? James Bond?My concern, as always, is not that there are multiple iterations, but that those iterations seek to stay as close to the source material as possible. (Reminding us of the sad fact that, when it comes to Batman, the Adam West version was really the most faithful!)

I wonder if perhaps that's why the Adam West version is still referenced half a century[!] later?

That is the first “external” acknowledgment of GENERATIONS I’ve seen!
Does this count?:
Spider-Man: Life Story A new mini-series wherein each issue features a decade in the life of Spider-Man as he and the rest of the Marvel Universe age in real time.
Where DO they come up with these ideas???

When I first met Dan DiDio he told me his plans for DC, most of which were rehashing Marvel ideas from ten, fifteen, twenty years earlier. Has Marvel decided it’s time to reverse that process?

Pattinson's got a lot of range as an actor. I think he'll surprise a lot of people in this role.

I read somewhere they wanted to emphasize on Batman's detective skills in this new movie... which would be something interesting to watch I think.

As long as they don’t put him in a bat-trenchcoat and bat-fedora!

Thread title almost made me think Joel Schumacher might be directing......
(Hey, if they put the Riddler in sequins, why not a glitter/sparkle Batman suit?)

There are really only two things keeping me interested in this Batman movie: it's not going to be another origin story, and it's apparently going to be noir(ish).
I never expected Batman Begins to be particularly good, nor was I a fan of Christian Bale, but both the movie and the actor proved me wrong. So I'm not going to prejudge Pattinson's suitability for the role beyond saying that I agree with JB on Bruce Wayne. His uncostumed physical appearance should be distinctly different from a tough superhero, somewhat foppish and ineffectual. In that regard, Pattinson fits the bill.

Forgot to ask: Is this the movie with Deathstroke as the villain, or was that idea scrapped already?
As long as they don't cast anyone else from the Twilight movies in it, I've no problem with Pattinson as Batman/Bruce Wayne. Though Billy Burke, who I'm a fan of from other roles, would make an interesting Gordon.

Another note re: Pattinson's suitability for the role - if he's got the chops enough for Cronenberg, I don't think his ability as an actor is much in question.
