The highlight of the Carol Burnett Show. Him doing his damndest (and usually succeeding!) to make Harvey Korman crack. Especially the dentist sketch.

One of my all-time favorite comedians. He will be missed.:(

Sad news. I am glad I got to see him and Harvey Korman perform live at a local theater some years ago.

Very sad news. I wonder if actors sharing the stage with him were ever worried he would make them break character with his ability to ad lib incredibly funny stories. He was an inspirational actor and I'm sad to hear he is gone.

++++++++++++++++++++++

They were doing a tour about a year or so before Korman died, and came here. I would have gone, but couldn't afford a ticket at the time.

I thought his sketch comedy on THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW was fantastic - he was great as the straight man Mr. Tudball in the Mrs Wiggins sketches, and he nailed broader characters with the Oldest Man sketches.

And I have a real soft spot for his performance in McHALES NAVY -  he created an appealing everyman, finding compromise between duty and his friends latest schemes.  He had some really great moments on that show that I didnít really appreciate until later.  The show has been airing recently in syndication and I find myself landing on it - it largely holds up because of some strong comedic acting all around.
