A.O.S. returns tonight after a full year.

There will be no connection to the MCU.

I thought I would be a little let down by the lack of MCU connection, but the premiere was such a cracking good piece of genre entertainment that I didn't miss it at all.  I'm also happy that ABC decided to throw actual production money at the show again, since season five really suffered from budget cuts.

Only thing I could see being a downside is keeping the teams apart for too long, but I like the expanded casting as well.

I got an "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer" vibe during last week's episode.

I do hope the team being apart remains two different storylines.

I got the same vibe, Jack. It was probably intentional. I was hoping that Sarge would disregard a pack of donuts with a smirk to really drive it home.

I find I still have a connection to these characters, and am liking the newer ones.

I'm with you Jack, let's keep the storylines separate for as long as possible. I kinda like the rotating episodes rather than jumping back and forth during the hour.

I must say, the Shrike transformation effect is memorably gruesome.

Logistically, they found a convenient way to cross-connect the plots, but, from the story, it seems the two groups are unknowingly working different sides of the same problem.

I gotta say, I'm feeling like S6 could shape up to be their best.  Which is super-impressive - most shows (especially genre shows, which rely on invention and plot) tend to peak in the third season and then really slide in the later seasons.

I thoroughly enjoyed the season!

The showrunner's have known for some time that next season will be the last, so I'm expecting quite the send off. Should be fun.

I gave the season finale a hearty hand clap. Ready for season seven, but sorry to see the show go.

Tying the villains back to the monoliths was interesting. Overall, I'd rather have stronger ties to the MCU, but I was kept entertained for most of this season.

I thought the last hour felt simultaneously a little flat and rushed - normally not qualities I associate with Kevin Tancharoen's direction.  He's really in the top tier of TV action directors, and his SHIELD work has been a genre high (the May vs. May scene from S2 was his).  But it's possible it only felt flat because my expectations were so high, given how strong the season has been otherwise.  A decent end to an amazing season, really.
