I just saw an Artists Edition of Kirby's PRISONER pages at the book store.  Wow!

Brian H. - Wonder Woman involved closely with the New Gods would have been interesting indeed! And Kanigher wouldn't have needed anyone to redraw Diana's face, either.

Once, in a conversation with Frank Miller, he revealed that Jason Todd's murder was supposed to have been complicated by the Joker raping Robin before killing him. This was about 35 years ago, but I remember it because I thought A) that sounds like the Joker, and B) it would have been entirely and completely inappropriate for a comic. But it does suggest that some people were champing at the bit to be unleashed on deconstructing and ruining characters with their own stories. (I don't believe it was Miller's idea to have this... but THAT part, I do not recall right now.)

When I went to DC to work on Superman, I learned there were some people there who wanted Alfred to have sexually abused young Bruce.

Some at Marvel wanted Uncle Ben to have done the same to Peter.

Makes one wonder what these people were needing to exorcise in their own lives.

JB's DANGER UNLIMITED all the way to the finish line
JB's proposed BLACKFOX miniseries

Those DeZuniga inks were very cool, just the right amount of grit.

I'd have loved to see Gil Kane's The Flame Horse:

It's been strongly implied since DC REBIRTH #1 that despite lots of pre-New 52 stuff becoming canonical again, IDENTITY CRISIS is still no longer canonical and, hence, Sue Dibny's rape by Dr. Light isn't either.

Ralph Dibny appeared in the most recent issue of DOOMSDAY CLOCK, alive and well. My bet is that Sue is also alive.

Works for me. Erase all the pointless darkness!

As long as the tugboat didn't best him, you should be very proud of this piece.

JB's Fantastic Four 294-296.

His stamp on the FF's 25th Anniversary issue would have been a classic.

Instead, we got some Jim Shooter whateveryouwanttocallit!

I feel very lucky to have started reading comics in the mid-70's.  I had a good ten or so years of reading great stories (including reprints from the 60's) that were good for adults and children alike--a fine line that seems a forgotten talent these days.  JB's X-MEN was about as intelligent a read as you can get, but there was nothing there "to corrupt my young mind."  (DAREDEVIL got a little dark, but still nothing I would keep away from a 12 year-old.)  As I--and comics--got older, I drifted over to Marvel's (and also THE SPIRIT) magazines and the upcoming independents, which were more "adult," but they still weren't gross.

I think too many creators these days don't know the difference between "adult" (deep stuff for smart people) and "Adult" (prurient material that anyone younger than a certain age should be protected from--and the older people should think twice about putting in their heads!).
