Question for JB.

JB is there any novel that you are interested in adapting as a comic book?

Thanks for the reply. Is this something that we might see happen in the near future?

It should have happened twenty-five years ago! I made a start, but found I was still struggling to find the characters.

Finally got to enjoy CITY a ways back, and wanted to cast Hamm as Kenniston:

A couple of years ago I persuaded a friend to read CITY. She, too, saw Hamm as Kenniston. She also saw Jeff Goldblum as Piers Eglin.

Lately, I’ve been pondering Saoirse Ronan as Varn Allen.

Ohhh, interesting, love Saoirse Ronan.  Now I know I have to reread it.  Will even try Goldblum, thanks!

Goldblum isn’t my casting. Too tall. Someone more like DJ Qualls.

Richard Jenkins as Hubble.

The Hamm pic I chose turned out to be pretty close to JB's Kenniston from his 1986 CITY pinup:

I had to look up the other actors, and like both.  Qualls would be the harder sell because I only recall him from all the way back in ROAD TRIP.  Jenkins is all-around great in my book.  I love when guys like Richard Jenkins or J.K. Simmons up their stock in flicks like THE SHAPE OF WATER or WHIPLASH.

Changed my mind on just about everything in that drawing. Gorr Holl, especially, I think, should look more like one of Mignola’s “shoulderless” figures.

This is one reason I’m glad I haven’t done this yet. Every time I read the book I pick up some nuance that reshapes the characters. Heck, despite the wonderful “teddy bear!” scene, it took literally decades for me to realize Gorr Holl was a bear, not an ape!
