Teaser trailer for the new Tarantino flick is up:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Scf8nIJCvs4

Brad Pitt, Leo Di Caprio, Margot Robbie, old Hollywood and the best
Bruce Lee impersonator I've ever seen.
I'm pumped.

Nothing calls to me.

And I can’t make out DiCaprio’s last word. “Great f**king ______”?

Well, I can hear it now, but I never would’ve got there on my own!

The Tate/Manson thing is putting a bad taste in my mouth. I know it's not what the movie is 'about' (supposedly) but I'm tired of people fucking around with it too. You don't cast nearly every major person in that story - including the victims - and not have it be another Manson story.

I'm in! I really love many of Tarantino's films -- I'll be checking this out.

I don't always love Tarantino but from the hip deep cast of names and "people of interest" to the behind-the-scenes Hollywood subject to the time period (which interests me and has long interested him), I am intrigued.  The Tate aspect is reportedly not front and center so I'm hoping the movie uses it more as a moment from 1969 rather than as a major plot point, but we'll see.

It was right there in the title, but THE HATEFUL EIGHT really left a sour taste in my mouth, I generally love or like most of Tarantino's films... that one was a grim, nasty, ugly film to sit through, and the only one of his movies I don't own.

However, this new one looks much more up my alley... and potentially a welcome return to some of the sheer moviemaking glee that Tarantino is known for.

If reviews are solid, I'll be there.

I've learned more about this film from the comments here than from what that trailer tells me. I'm not in, at least yet.

I am all in for this one - I don’t miss Tarantino’s movies on release,  Hit or miss, he is going for a theatrical experience.

I thought HATEFUL EIGHT was great - it renewed my faith in him as a writer and director.

The production transformed the actual Hollywood Blvd into the 1960s for some scenes - I’m looking forward to seeing what is likely an accurate recreation!

THE HATEFUL EIGHT was one of his weaker efforts for me but don't get me wrong it's still a pretty good movie with some memorable scenes and dialogue.

One thing I've noticed about QT is that he has a very, very high level of self-awareness about his own career. He knows the difference between his regular stuff and his truly great stuff, and has a great sense of timing.

After JACKIE BROWN when everybody thought they knew Tarantino's deal, he unleashed KILL BILL. After that and DEATH PROOF and his exploitation phase, INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS which was so fresh and unexpected at the time.

I think it's that time again. After two spaghettis, this new film will be a totally different thing nobody will be expecting I'm sure. He summoned probably the two most iconic actors of this generation for this (who hadn't worked together before I think?). The movie won't disappoint.

Watched the man's filmography again for the umpteenth time the past few weeks so here's my QT Top 8 as of now, you're welcome to join in!

1. PULP FICTION
2. INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS
3. KILL BILL
4. RESERVOIR DOGS
5. DJANGO UNCHAINED
6. JACKIE BROWN (a great film, but the less "Tarantinoesque" of his)
7. THE HATEFUL EIGHT
8. DEATH PROOF (it does what it means to do perfectly and it's great fun but still a minor oeuvre)
