Renewed by the CW in January for a 15th season, the stars announced today that it will be its last.  Debuting September 13, 2005 on the now defunct WB (and the only series from that channel still airing new seasons), it's been the bedrock of the CW since its inception and continues to perform well long after most George W. Bush era series have faded into memory.  Love it, hate it or are indifferent to it, 320+ episodes is an amazing accomplishment.

It is quite an achievement all right. All the more so when you realize that unlike most other shows that have the convenience of large ensembles, the two lead actors have been in almost every scene of every episode (usually 20+ episodes each season) for 15 years. That's a commitment and a half!

So yeah, my hat's off to them Supernatural's always been this kind of reassuring dependable presence on our screens, and it'll be weird not to have it anymore. But at least they are going out on a high. These last two seasons have been close to the height of the show again, quality wise, and certainly much better than the show has any right to be after this long.

I will miss these guys. (And the Impala!)

Wow. 15 seasons is a lot. And I haven't watched a single episode.
