Can't figure out how to link it but there was an interesting response to Chris Ryall's tweet about "what never-before-collected comic series do you want collected?"

Another Twitter user responded with: "In the 1970's, publisher La Prensa did not believe Mexicans would read Spider-man after Gwen Stacy died. They created 45 original issues after Spiderman 119 where she lives, that have never been translated or reprinted. This is their marriage issue. Marvel needs to collect these!"

Would be interesting to see if these could be located and collected if true!

The "Elsewhen" part of this thread's title seems odd.

Were any of the artists and writers on these issues working at Marvel or DC at the time?

••

I'm glad somebody else said it!

"ElseWhen" is a term I coin for a very specific project.

Looking up some of those covers, they certainly seemed to have a thing for Gwen.

I could have used "What If?," "Elseworlds," or "Forever" but I thought "Elsewhen" seemed more appropriate for this forum.

Regardless, the point remains, would be interesting to see if these can be found and collected!

Mexican Gwen Stacy was certainly... blessed.

There was a 2-part Marvel UK story that I think has never been reprinted in the US too (although that fitted loosely into the US continuity of the time and didn't change the story in any way).

That particular cover reminds me of a deeply disturbing moment with a fan who asked for a sketch of “Hawkeye shooting Mockingbird with a dildo-arrow.”

No, I didn’t do it.

I had never listened the Gwen Stacy explanation for the mexican stories. In the Spidermex site is mentioned that the reason was just the lack of original material. Being the popular success that Spider-Man has always been in the country La Prensa made the comic weekly and then started producing the new stories. Later publisher OEPISA continued producing them (it is said that with Marvel permission, something not mentioned for La Prensa). http://www.spidermex.com/historia.php

The covers:

Wow. I had never even heard of these. But I must admit that I would love to read them.
