No on female Bond. We had Atomic Blonde and that was amazing. There are other agents if they want a female MI6 agent.

I'm reading Forever and a Day, the Casino Royale sequel by Anthony Horowitz, authorized by the Fleming estate, and in that Bond takes the 007 number from a deceased agent, so I guess the numbers change or can change between individuals.
As for who plays Bond next, I don't particularly care as long as it's someone good and they get the films back closer to an every other year cadence again. I'm tired of waiting 5-6 years sometimes between films.
I have no problem with Henry Cavill playing Bond after the last MI film. He was great in that and more than a pretty face. The bathroom fight scene was one of the best fight scenes in recent memory. He also did a spy turn in Man from Uncle. I think his looks would help the character and be an about face from Daniel's less polished blunt instrument.
I listen to the highly recommended James Bond Radio podcast each week and the guys were discussing how outside of from Connery to Lazenby, the actors tend to be very different from the previous as they change. I think after Daniel's run, it would be nice to get back to someone who looks more comfortable in great clothes and a bit more suave, as Bond tends to be. Cavill would be able to offer this change of pace.
I used to think Tom Hardy too but too similar to Daniel. He doesn't have the polish of Bond. Even Connery, who was rough around the edges, seemed comfortable in fine clothes, talking about wines, etc. Daniel does not at all seem to have those qualities and Hardy maybe less. Time to get Bond back to being Bond a bit.
I'd be fine with something of an unknown, Cavill, Richard Madden (from Bodyguard), whatever. Just make good films, recapture some of the more light heartedness and make the films more frequently. Bond, like Batman, needs to step out of the darkness a bit imo.
