I went looking online for the commission of Guardian's death scene done for someone (ahem, *me!*) when I came across this guy's Instagram page - a local NY actor that does web comics for fun. Not professionally drawn, but he's got numerous Byrne homages on his page, and he's clearly a fan.

adding: it does encapsulate my experience reading this issue as well. I mean, there was no way the team leader was going to die, right? Who does that?!?

(Begs the question, JB, that prior to the reveal in issue 12 that she is a robot, her thoughts were shared with the reader. This may have just been a ruse, but I wondered if the original intent had been for her to be human?)

Always a robot.

Early. I don’t recall exactly how far ahead, but well before the halfway point of the first year.

I know you’ve spoken in the past of how the FF “wrote themselves.” Did you have this happen on AF?

ALPHA FLIGHT is my next dig into the long boxes. It’s been WAY too long.

Mac died in 12. Sasquatch in 24. I wonder who would have died in 36 or if the deaths would've even continued?

I’m remembering a truly scalding letter I received from one fan who’d stopped reading AF12 in complete disgust when she saw it was Snowbird who was going to die.......

I was 98% certain it was going to be Northstar with a 2% chance of it being Marrina. Then when I was down to the last couple of pages and it was focused on Mac I knew exactly who was going to die....Heather.

Storywise, Mac really was the right choice. Did you ever give any thought to eventually having Heather pull them together as a team (including making it a regular team book)?

I remember buying Alpha Flight #12 at the local 7-Eleven on my way to school and examining the cover again and again, going around and around the pictures of the cast in those gunsights, thinking it might be Northstar, but really, not being able to get past the fact that Mac was right there, in the closest thing to a center spot on the cover...
