An interesting ARTICLE ...

But I do wonder if the various commentators think other professions—cops, lawyers, football players, etc—are portrayed any more accurately?

I’ve seen comic book/strip artists portrayed in many shows/movies. HE AND SHE, HOW TO MURDER YOUR WIFE, BOB, CHASING AMY and others, and none get really close to the reality. And like those cops, lawyers, doctors, scientists etc they’d be boring as hell if they did!

Dramatic licence is fine, as long as some credibility is
there! I know DNA results didn`t take minutes in CSI
etc.
If you over think things, like when there`s a car chase
and multiple crashes in modern movies and tv, and not a
single airbag inflates, you spoil your enjoyment.

Batman begins - dropping something into the water supply through a hole in the pipe - water supply pipes are pressurised as we all know.

Think of a leak in the house. Bugs me to no end but I forgive it because I love the rest of the film so much

A friend of mine once had a short stint as a private investigator. He said it was one of the most mundane jobs he ever did, mostly involving cases of insurance fraud or cheating spouses.

A far cry from Magnum P.I.!

Well, they're not documentaries.

If they were even close to the reality of the professions, we'd all be bored still.

It would be like watching 'Bob' (the old show with Bob Newhart as a comic book artist) and expecting it to be like a real comic book artist's life.

Nope.
