This is a Klingon ship?

Is it supposed to expand into the biggest possible target?

LOL, looks a lot like a piece of Aztec headgear.   I'm sure the Klingons make similar remarks about Earth ships looking like plates with engines attached to them.

Perhaps those are solar sails/collectors?

Looks like a Babylon 5 design gone wrong.

Just finished Discovery season 2.

So THATS why my Star Trek history books don’t mention Discovery?

Okay.  Whatever.

Season 2 was fun for the most part.  Pike (Anson Mount) was a revelation.  I wonder when it occurred to the writers that Star Trek Discovery should have been Star Trek Pike all along?  Based on the vast improvement from season 1 to season 2 I’d say they clearly took a deeper interest as much as I did.

This USS Enterprise was gorgeous to look at....but still a bit overdone in the details and doodads department however.

The digital model of Enterprise used in the updated TOS episodes on Netflix is stunning and it would have been awesome to see here.  Why people who ‘design’ for Star Trek (post Voyager) feel the need to redesign the living shit out of everything you can lay eyes on is beyond me.  Ok, I know WHY they do it.  But they shouldn’t do it.  At least not to the degree we seen on screen.  The ‘new’ bridge looked like the old bridge on steroids and acid.  I wish the designers would have taken at least one more round of compromises between the TOS bridge and their design.

All in all Discovery became a pleasant binge.  Some eye rolling moments for me to be sure.  Nearly everything Burnham/Spock related was cringeworthy.  The use of Spock in general felt gratuitous right up until he put on the science blue and walked onto the bridge.  Once again...I can picture the writers saying to themselves “What the fuck were we thinking by NOT doing this from the start?!”

Whatever show could come from Pike’s Enterprise I am convinced will be more appealing to me than whatever Discovery has up its sleeve in season 3.
