The Isla Vista killings were in 2014. The perpetrator, Elliot Rodger, has become the patron saint for the "incel" community because of his manifesto, blaming his rampage on being rejected by women and still being a virgin.
There was also a recent van attack on pedestrians by a man in Toronto. In a Facebook post made prior to the attack, he identified him as an "incel" and referenced Rodger.
CHICAGO MED was just ripping stories from the headlines, and sadly, the headlines are repeating themselves.
