Those first fifteen minutes, holy cow.  I enjoyed the rest of the film as well. but the way everybody is talking about it, it wasn't even the marketing, this movie just somehow caught on.

Somebody please tell me how bd wong is almost 60, though.

“Asian don’t raisin.” That doesn’t explain how Sandra Bullock is 54 though.

I think this movie just lucked out by being a horror movie that got some word of mouth during Christmas week, when people were home and looking for something different from the usual holiday fare. The most succinct (and accurate) review I’ve seen of BIRD BOX was: “THE HAPPENING, but better. A QUIET PLACE, but worse.”

Regarding the ending (SPOILERS):

Yeah, the beginning was very good; when the woman started banging her head against the glass and they were just trying to get the hell out of Dodge, I was thinking "this is going to be great". The rest was OK, but didn't really live up to that beginning.

Obviously shades of World War Z and The Road and The Stand and many other post-apocalyptic tales.

That's a good question, Michael, although as it had been what- 6 years and they were in the Northwest, I assume maybe things just grew up around it?

I forgot how to use InvisoText.

I watched this today.

It kept reminding me of THE HAPPENING. Including the head banging.
