Is anyone here a fan of the Charlie Chan films starring Warner Oland, then Sidney Toler? Admittedly, the two stars are an unfortunate example of yellowface, but some of the films are great fun, up there with the Rathbone-Bruce Sherlock Holmes films as superior B movies.

Loved ‘em as a child. Haven’t seen them in years.

The young (or younger than I'm used to seeing him!) Cesar Romero was in Charlie Chan At Treasure Island, and he's very good in it too.

I've never read any of the books, which I ought to give a try.

With the trend for revivals, I wonder if Charlie Chan could make a comeback - if not for the big screen, perhaps as a TV series?

loved Charlie Chan when I was around elementary school age.  Caught them on Netflix or some other streaming service a couple years ago.  I still enjoyed them, but man have times changed.

Chan was one of those weekend morning watches as a kid. I remember enjoying them, but, like many of us, haven't seen them since the last millennium some time. Maybe I'll drop TCM a line.

The Toler movies were okay, but I prefferd the Warner Oland movies. Haven't seen any of the Roland Winters films. The less said about the Peter Ustinov film, the better.

I can already see it, with "No.1 Daughter" as a martial arts expert who puts the old man in his place.

Lucy Liu was involved in developing a new Charlie Chan movie, but I haven't heard anything about it lately.
