Will Smith wrote on Instagram that his Genie would indeed be blue in the actual film. The cover pic is a sort of "human form" that Genie will take on when walking around Agrabah. Genie will be CGI for the majority of the film.

Will Smith looks a bit more like Shazzan than Genie, but considering it's Disney and it's live effects... it looks as if it could be tremendous fun!

Alas, there doesn't seem to be a Gilbert Gottfried-voiced Iago as part of the live action version. He was my favorite part of the original.

I'm less concerned about the Genie not being blue and more about him not NOT being Will Smith.

First image of Smith’s Genii has appeared, looking like the animators went to the bottom of the Uncanny Valley..... and dug a trench.
