Anyone else a fan of David Byrne's True Stories?  It's one of those movies I can't quite explain my love for.  It's a movie that made me see my own hometown differently.  I saw it when I was 12 because I loved Talking Heads.

There's a new Criterion Blu-Ray that has a beautiful transfer and a fascinating Making of.

Plus he's JB's cousin!  (Well, his parents are Scottish anyway).

I have been intrigued by this film since I read about it in our local alt-weekly when I was 14. My DVD copy just arrived Tuesday and I look forward to finally seeing the film that's eluded me all these years.

I love this film like crazy.  Saw it in the theater when it first came out.  One of my earliest forays into 'art' cinema.  And the news of the Criterion version is one of the few things that could convince me to finally buy a blu-ray.

Jozef: if you can, track down the original script book that was released at the time.  Amazing exploration of process (and a nice bit of design, to boot).  https://www.amazon.com/True-Stories-David-Byrne/dp/014009230 7/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1543592980&sr=8-7&keywo rds=david+byrne+true+stories

I saw the movie in the theater and thought it was good, but not enough to revisit.

I LOVE the soundtrack recorded by the Talking Heads and still listen to it from time to time.  It's a favorite of min.  This is not to be confused with the film's soundtrack that has the actors singing the songs.  That wasn't released until now along with this blu-ray release.  There was an album of instrumental music from the film issued during the original release.

They released a rarities set at some point that had the actor-sung versions of the songs, several years ago. I did appreciate the new soundtrack CD with the Criterion set though, it was a nice bonus.

There are some truly sublime moments in this movie.  This is one of those movies that has grown up with me, that is to say my reactions to this movie have changed as I've aged.

I liked the movie-- it had an offbeat vibe that I thought was pretty cool-- but the soundtrack is definitely a hit.

I love True Stories. It came out when I was at the very deepest point of my David Byrne/Talking Heads fandom, so I was predisposed to love it, but I think it's held up pretty well.
