Addendum: Looking to iMDB and the movies that Tim Burton has directed, it hasn't been since ED WOOD (1994) that I've throughly enjoyed one of his projects. That's a quarter-century.  And, yes, I've seen BIG FISH.  In the theatre. Didn't enjoy it at all.

I've gotten over my 80s adoration of the man's work and have come to the conclusion that he's an OK storyteller with a couple of great films under his belt but who is, on balance, someone whose work I don't really enjoy.   I feel I should, but I don't...really.

I pretty much enjoyed Burton's run beginning with BEETLEJUICE and ending with SLEEPY HOLLOW (1999), with the odd dud in-between, but after that there's been nothing.

SLEEPY HOLLOW was too much pissing on the source material. I mean, if THAT was the story Burton HAD to tell, why couldn’t the Depp character have been hired to investigate the disappearance of Ichabod Crane?

(To answer my own question, Hollywood can’t do that. It’s industry pathology. They MUST change things. In fact, that’s the first question asked: “What can we change?”)

I actually got a few chuckles out of DARK SHADOWS, but overall too many negatives,

I must say my daughter absolutely loves THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

NIGHTMARE was produced by Burton, not directed.

I liked MARS ATTACKS. But, even that was well over 20 years ago.

BATMAN was pretty good. BATMAN RETURNS was a little too Burton-y. Reuniting Keaton and DeVito in DUMBO makes me a little concerned.

It was...different. Visually very Burton...some of the characterizations felt
Burton...definitely targeted the emotional angle of the audience. A bit heavy
for kids.

But...you'll believe an elephant can fly.

Worth catching on cable or maybe a Red Box rental...not sure I could
recommend paying $20+/- to see it.

Harmless, but unnecessary.

Since the CGI has not made me believe it’s an elephant....
