I remember reading a review of the original Dumbo praising it for not trying to bloat it to extend the running time. It was shown originally with Disney short cartoons to meet the time needs of theaters.

And yes, Disney is planning to remake every movie in live action. Can't wait to see the live action Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

No...not really...

WFRR will be redone with animated/CGI human leads and animatronic toons. (Not inside knowledge, just a gloomy prediction.)

And as far as I know, Zemeckis (to borrow from another thread) has kayoed any notion of remaking/rebooting BACK TO THE FUTURE. Not sure if he and Bob Gale can prevent Universal from doing that eventually, but they refuse to participate even in discussions, supposedly.

Less than a week to go, and still no early reviews from any major critics.  Usually not a good sign.

Of the four (!!!) Disney "live-action" remakes (or "realmakes," as I call 'em) set for this year, DUMBO is at the bottom of the list for my kids.  No real interest or enthusiasm for this one, and my own opinion still holds that whenever Tim Burton tackles an established property, we end up with a leaden clunker (box office numbers for BATMAN be damned).

I will enjoy perusing the eventual reviews!

NEIL: "...FANTASIA lice-action movie..."

**

When typos inspire nightmares.

Having cleaned my kids heads a few times recently, I have this gittery, "Look, a
louse!" reaction to small things. This is something I can actually picture. BRRR.

These Disney "remakes" aren't for me. Of the few I've seen, they seem to have nothing new to say -- they just feel like "cash grabs" imho.

I'm much happier when Burton is working on his own projects, instead of something like this.

I used to really enjoy Burton's work but looking on IMDB, the last thing I  truly appreciated was CORPSE BRIDE, which was 14 years ago.  This one holds no interest, though the prognosticators are predicting a lot of business.

Of the 38 movies for which the IMDb lists Burton as Director, I can say without equivocation that I enjoy 4.

Mostly, tho, he just gets on my nerves.

On the Facebook ads for this, Burton rather gleefully says that the original film ended with Dumbo taking flight and that this film BEGINS with that! I shook my head wondering, "How is that a good thing?"
