I went to my LCS yesterday and decided that since I buy Captain America and like it that maybe I just need to give Marvel a fair chance not based on previous issues (and my personal history) but the merits of the comics they produce now. A lot of this thinking is that I was talking to one of the guys at the store (who is a good bit younger than me) and he was telling me what he likes about certain Marvel comics. His enthusiasm piqued my curiosity, so while I was ready to drop the Avengers and Fantastic Four, I've decided to stay on with those titles and I've added Amazing Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Tony Stark: Iron Man, Thor, and Uncanny X-Men. They told me that I wouldn't particularly like Black Panther in space or Immortal Hulk. There's no Hydra Cap (even if Secret Empire is being acknowledged in the Captain America title) and Peter Parker is not a Tony Stark-type businessman and Thor is Thor, so I don't really have to stretch my neck too much to try to enjoy the art and writing.

Last Week: DC: Mister Miracle #12 (Of 12) - The end. Or is it?
Marvel: Fantastic Four #3 - Nice to see the team in action, I just wish all the supporting characters had a moment to shine.
Aftershock: Dark Ark #11 - Repercussions of an earlier arc rear their head in a big way this issue.
Dark Horse: Joe Golem Occult Detective The Drowning City #3 (Of 5) - The series moves out of a submerged NYC for the first time. Neil Gaiman's American Gods My Ainsel #8 - Though the pace is slow, I've enjoyed this arc more than the first. Quantum Age #4 - This continues to tie in nicely with the main series.
Image: Cemetery Beach #3 (Of 7) - World building on the run. In terms of pacing, kind of the opposite of all Ellis' other recent work. Gideon Falls #8 - The two story threads are slowly starting to merge. Hey Kids Comics #4 - Probably not the week for this to come out. But that's Chaykin for you, always going against the grain. Mage The Hero Denied #13 (Of 15) - This is picking up the pace a bit.
Oni Press: Shadow Roads #5 - End of the first arc. Looking forward to volume two early next year.
This Week:
Boom! Studios: Black Badge #4 - Clever to add a reference to the Grass Kingdom in this issue, seeing as the final Grass Kings HC is also out today.
Dark Horse: Black Hammer Age Of Doom #7 - An absolutely charming diversion from the main storyline. Crimson Lotus #1 (Of 5) - Another thread in the Mignolaverse tapestry gets fleshed out.
Image: Cold Spots #4 (Of 5) - A creepy little horror about trust and betrayal.

Star Wars #57 - This is one of my favorite series right now, it's not exactly ground breaking but it is fun to read.
And from last week(since I missed it):
Cosmic Ghost Rider #5 - I've really enjoyed this book, and he's apparently not gone after this mini...
"Hey Kids Comics #4 - Probably not the week for this to come out. But that's Chaykin for you, always going against the grain." Not like he has control of the release dates, if they were going to delay it they could have... ;-)
