More wishful thinking than science, methinks...

A note, too, that if this really was/is an interstellar craft, it pretty much puts paid to the “Fermi Paradox”. Why aren’t they here? Cuz they don’t come here. They just pass thru!

All this time, aliens weren't coming here to steal our minerals or water... they just wanted to use our sun as a gravity assist!

I thought I had opened the “Genesis” thread and this was the subject. I was thinking how cool that would’ve been.

The Press doesn’t seem to want to let this one go. Pretty much the same cut-and-paste articles on Google news for a week or more. Different sources, same words.

What’s sad is the underlying message: WE DON’T WANT TO BE UNIMPORTANT. We really hate the idea of being, as Carl Sagan put it, part of a biological film coating—my words now—an utterly inconsequential lump of rock. We want extraterrestrials to find us fascinating, well worth the time and effort of crossing interstellar distances to come here to check us out.

The more the Universe has revealed of itself, the less important we have become. Aliens now sub for angels.

O, well. At least aliens are probably real!

Apropos of nothing, every time I read "Oumuamua" I find myself pronouncing it in my head as "Hominahominahomina."

That is all.

We're under galactic quarantine in case we're mentally infectious. All we can see from our window is glimpses of some passing traffic in the distance, probably beyond the face on Mars which is a universal warning to not travel further into this system.

I'm feeling pretty 'special' when I think about things this way anyhow! :^)

If anyone wants to establish intent, the question should be, where is it heading next. Straight into the random abyss, to to a suspiciously specific next target?

Weirdly enough, any time I see a story on it, "Umbabarauma" by Jorge Ben starts playing in my head. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAh4Vb1ghCo
