I'm pretty sure Iron Man fought Magneto at least once, but that's a match up that should still hold some appeal...

Ok. I’m in. Assuming all the characters involved are the classic versions (circa late 70’s-early 80’s).
Thor vs Terrax: It’s hammer versus axe as the God of Thunder tackles the Herald of Galactus!
Captain America vs Taskmaster: Can the Legend of WW2 defeat a foe who can copy his every move?
The X-Men vs The Destroyer (Asgardian): Loki has unleashed the Destroyer upon the X-Men. It may take the Phoenix UNLEASHED to stop it.
The Fantastic Four vs the Imperial Guard: The FF are whisked into space to clash with the might of Gladiator and the Shi’Ar empire.
Spider-Man vs Magneto: Spidey needs his brains as well as his brawn to tackle the Master of Magentism
Black Panther vs Kraven The Hunter: Kraven seeks the ultimate big game cat, the King of Wakanda!
Namor vs Juggernaut: The Lord of Atlantis faces the unstoppable powerhouse, Juggernaut!
She-Hulk vs Rhino: Can Jessica tame the Rhino before he destroys midtown?

Funny you should mention that second one, David! Cap is fighting Taskmaster in the current issue of CAPTAIN AMERICA... and not doing too well, as he was poisoned by Tasky first. The FF fought Gladiator (JB did that one!), but they haven't taken on the Imperial Guard as far as I remember. She-Hulk vs Rhino would be fun since one of her early foes was Man-Elephant. Good choices!

I'd like to see Sasquatch vs Abomination and/or Leader. Walt isn't a gamma mutate (despite what Immortal Hulk would have you believe) but he was inspired by the Hulk... and it'd be interesting to see him fight two of Banner's top enemies.

Agreed. FF vs. “Gladiator” was not the fight I had in mind. I wanna see them against the full Guard. Looks like impossible odds..

All your guys' ideas have been fun to picture!
Daredevil vs. Dr. Octopus- Radar senses against 6 independent arms, would be a blast to see that plotted out.
Uncanny X-Men vs. Wrecking Crew- I think the Wrecking Crew gets underestimated by some. They once beat the Defenders (with Hulk) in ten seconds!!.
Valkyrie vs. Kraven- Oh, I would just love to see Kraven put in his place by her.

Although I believe nothing should ever be overdone, every four years (like the FIFA World Cup), I, if I was an editor-in-chief, would instruct editors and writers to do some "cross-pollination".
Wouldn't need an event. Just done in one stories.
I picked up a BATMAN (or was it DETECTIVE COMICS) issue as a kid, which featured Batman taking on Captain Boomerang. Quite appealing. Very appealing, in fact.
As long as "cross-pollination" doesn't become routine, which would cause it to lose its lustre, I'm all for it.
Wolverine VS Gray Gargoyle, anyone?

I kind of like Tigra for a fight with Kraven. Keeps up the animal theme. X-Men vs Wrecking Crew would be pretty interesting indeed. I'm not sure if ANY of the X-Men have fought them (Beast is the only one who might have, as part of the Avengers). Daredevil vs Superior Spi... oh you know who I mean. Yeah, definitely a challenge to radar sense four tentacles coming at you all at once. And the full Guard would be a real hard fight for the FF if it's ONLY Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben, but they've pulled off huge upsets before. They're really the ONE "team" you should not underestimate.

And Robbie, I think it's something that could be done every so often. Doesn't need to be an event, just the suggestion "do something unexpected once in a while." Oh, and tell the editorial offices to share their toys; I hear that that's been a BIG problem.

Speaking of, X-Men vs Count Nefaria or Graviton... or even the Absorbing Man! Avengers have a lot of villains who've taken on the whole team, don't they?
