A replacement for gravity?!!!

Never before have I been so intrigued by an astronomy magazine cover (I buy ASTRONOMY, SKY & TELESCOPE, and ALL ABOUT SPACE, all of which have intriguing headlines).

I'll have a read. And maybe a browse on the internet after. But "A Replacement For Gravity" is a most interesting headline.

Once I heard that gravity came from another dimesion, and the "proof" was that it was such a weak force (you can beat it with a simple jump). Don't remember the details (cause, come on), and I did try to explain that it was about Earth's mass, and how gravity was "stronger" in other planets and that we couldn't live on those, and that we are not actually "beating" gravity with our jumps or planes. It had the expected effect.
