One nice thing, even if you have to sell your original art, you can still at least make yourself a quality photocopy.

I would think something in pencil (especially a really soft lead pencil) you might want to spray with acrylic fixative. Most architectural art supply stores stocked it. But then again, if it's framed where the surface is not in any contact with the glass that might be unnecessary.

I own a genuine Japanese woodblock print from the early 1800s and I framed it myself and just slipped one sheet of mylar under the glass (from a damaged Bill Cole Ent. mylar comic sleeve).

This somewhat worse-for-wear Starlin Doctor Strange page.  Purchased in the late 80s for around $70, I think.  Might have been a little less; it's been a while now.

Not the most pristine page ever, but I loved the art.

FIrst page and first oversized page was Reggie Beyers Robotech: New Generation. Comico had some of the best printed books at the time but it was amazing how much detail got lost in the production process.

Sensational She-Hulk #5, page 20
Bought it from inker Bob Wiacek at a convention in 1990 or '91 for $20.00.
I've been meaning to share it here for a while...

As memory serves, my first comic art page was a Curt Swan/Vince Colletta page from the second (third?) Radio Shack comic - "Victory by Computer." I paid $30 for it. I wanted it because it had both Superman and Supergirl on it. I thought it was a hell of a bargain - ANY Curt Swan art, let alone Superman and Supergirl? OH YES.

Sadly, it's buried away somewhere, so I can't put up an image. But I was glad to own it in any case.

Ah, the sad case of my Neal Adams Deadman sketch! Put it inside a book for safety — can’t remember which book!!

Jason, $7,000 for the FF page?! Holy cow. I didn't realize a sort of standard JB  page of FF would go for that kind of dough. I guess it is over 30 years old. I sold a page last year from a higher number issue with Reed and Johnny only and it went for $700.

I'm thinking my first page was a splash page from Battlestar Galactica by Walt Simonson inked by Klaus Janson, that I ordered from an ad in the Comic Buyer's Guide. The only reason I got a Simonson I think was because it must have come from Klaus. Walt doesn't sell his pages. I paid $15 for it in the early 90s.

From what I heard the corners were cut off of the original art at the printers. The pages were taped to a drum for scanning, after the scanning process the scanner operator would cut the taped corners off to remove them.

Kind of a reminder of how the pages were viewed as just work product by many back then.
