I can definitely see the comment on Doomsday + 1 #1 by the artist in that the cover was nothing compared to those great covers on #2-6... I still love those Byrne color Charlton covers on Doomsday and Space 1999, they're up there with those Heath and Kubert early '60s DCs (Sea Devils, Brave & the Bold, Star Spangled War)... I always wondered why there weren't a lot more covers like them back in those times as they were really beautiful! Not full paintings like Gold Key often had, but something special, an enhanced rendition of what you would get inside.
