My wife is really looking for a good current or very recent TV comedy. Any recommendations?

A little guidance:

She really enjoyed MASTER OF NONE, LOVE, CATASTROPHE, BETTER THINGS, DIVORCE, and also liked SMILF, CRASHING, SHAMELESS.

Shows like the following are not her cup of tea: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Community, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, GLOW, etc.

Despite myself, the wife and I quite enjoyed "Superior Donuts." It was quirky, but we found ourselves enjoying every episode, with enough laughs to make it worth recording. I'm sorry it was cancelled, although I'm not sure how much more story it had to go on.

Steven beat me to it. I too would say The Good Place is the best comedy around right now.

Given the list of shows that Michael indicated were not his wifeís cup of tea, I would not recommend THE GOOD PLACE. Even if itís my favorite TV comedy right now.

My suggestion would be THE KARATE KID sequel series, COBRA KAI. I wouldnít call it a comedy, but itís in the same vein of comedy-drama (I donít want to use the word dramedy) that some of those other shows listed are. It does require a YouTube Red subscription though.

A.P. BIO really snuck up on me. Really like it.

DETROITERS . It's a bit over the top and has a bunch of local references but man it does get me to laugh out loud.

I recommend a marriage counselor, and possibly a fair, competent divorce lawyer.  :-)

Thanks for the recommendations.

If all Mike Schur shows are alike, then likely my wife would not like them.

We can definitely try VEEP, though. She's a Julia Louis-Dreyfus fan (and who couldn't be?!).

I think my wife is mostly seeking something in the rom-com-ish vein. We watched the first episode of the British show, "Gavin & Stacey," but my wife doesn't do well with accents, and so she found she needed subtitles!

Corporate on Comedy Central, especially any of the episodes with Lance Reddick.

It may look like another run-of-the-mill family comedy but the recently wrapped up "The Middle" was incredibly funny and had some of the best recurring jokes and continuity of any show.  Give it a try.

Michael - have you or your wife checked out "American Vandal" on Netflix? It's a faux "real life crime" documentary about a vandalism incident at a San Diego area high school. Think a comic version of "Making a Murderer".

The second season just became available today.

I'd also recommend "Santa Clarita Diet".

I loved American Vandal. (Season two is out on Netflix
this weekend. Yea!) I think women might find it too
immature though.
