Well, the first season was bad.  Pretty much uniformly panned.  But this looks to be a massive improvement from the trailer.  And, ladies and gentlemen, we have the mask.

His guest spot in season 2 of Luke Cage was very
promising!

I never understood the criticisms of the first season. I enjoyed it.

The first season was absolutely dreadful; a miscast Danny Rand and the world's arguably best fighter spending more time in board rooms than actually fighting. Very boring.

"I didn't ask for the Iron Fist."

I survived the first season only because of my love for the (comic) character and the good supporting characters in the series. Actually if the whole series was about Colleen Wing it might have been more interesting.

But the lead actor simply cannot fight. He looks ordinary next to everyone else on the show. There are some things that you just can't fake. I can't believe that they would have trouble finding a good actor with at lease some martial arts skills.

Looks like he got some more practice for the second season, but Colleen still looks more like the one form K'un L'un in the trailer.  Not sure I will check this out, unless of course the costume shows up.

Misty Knight's casting was great, IMO.

I agree the casting of Misty Knight and Colleen Wing was superb. But that doesn't make up for the fact that the first season of the show was very mediocre.

I may sample the first episode of the new season to see what azimuth corrections they have made. But if we get another season with a whiny, guilt-ridden, non-combative Danny Rand then I am going to drop this show like a bad habit and look elsewhere for my Marvel entertainment.

Seems like a lot of people disliked the show for
different reasons. Mine was the inconsistency of
Danny's skills. One episode he takes down multiple
trained martial artists without breaking a sweat, then
in another he's taken out via being bonked from behind
by a rent-a-cop.

If the LUKE CAGE episode is any indication, Danny won’t be a “whiny, guilt-ridden non-combative” any more.

I thought the Defenders series went a long way to making
Danny Rand look good, and the season 2 Luke Cage
appearance continued that trend.
More prep-time and a new (hopefully) competent
showrunner make me very hopeful for season 2 of Iron
Fist.

I thought was the first season was terrible and enjoyable. It had the feel of a gone-to-seed corporate soap opera desperately flailing for rejuvenation by bringing in a vampire, or in Iron Fist's case, a superhero.

I'll especially miss David Wenham's character. He was an oily, insincere  delight.

"But... I thought Misty was Danny's lady."

That does irk me greatly.

I'll admit that when I went back to buy JB's IRON FIST issues, I was surprised to find that Misty was originally an Iron Fist character. I had assumed for years that she came along with Luke Cage (probably their appearance together in X-Men#122 cemented that in my mind).

Yep, it was Danny and Misty. Chris and I missed doing Marvel's first interracial relationship by barely a heartbeat.

Honestly, I like Colleen and Misty as characters more than I like Danny by...a lot.

I would've preferred a Shang-Chi series to an Iron Fist series, too. I know, I know, "Power Man and Iron Fist"...but since everyone seems to want "diversity" in their entertainment (yes, me too), why not use more of the "racial minority" characters that Marvel already owns? A lot of them are "lying around" and nothing's being done with them, at least not on Netflix or in the movies.

(Shang-Chi, Red Wolf, White Tiger, Firebird, Living Lightning, Spectrum, Battlestar, Doctor Voodoo [formerly Brother Voodoo], Triathalon...and that's just off the top of my head.)

Having watched the new season (I really liked the 10 episode length.  Seemed just about right), a few spoiler free comments.

Everything about it was 100% better than season one, but without doing any retconning, they just built a better Iron Fist.  They got things back on track within continuity.

On the other hand, they still had the 'Green Hornet' problem.  When the Seth Rogen Green Hornet movie was made, the studio was so embarrassed by having an Asian supporting character to a white lead that they made the Hornet incompetent and Kato super-competent to compensate.  While not to the same extreme, this season still, in the end, is Colleen Wing and her faithful sidekick/boyfriend Danny.

A more likely explanation is the dynamic came about because Rogen thought it was funny.

Ok finished season two and here's a
spoiler-free assessment:

Far superior to season 1 in every
conceivable way. Better written,
smarter direction, a compelling story
that I actually wish had gone on for a
couple more episodes, and yes far
better fight scenes and action.

Can't really get into my gripes
without revealing spoilers but they're
minor overall and typical of the
Marvel Netflix shows.

Is anyone else mystified by the casting of Davos?   That little guy looks so ridiculous stepping up to women nearly 3 inches taller and glowing at them.  I know short dudes can be tough, but for the sake of the visual impact of the TV show, maybe a taller, more muscular and imposing actor could have ‘sold’ the villain role better than Sasha Dhawan.   He was so underwhelming that it took me out of every scene he was in.

His presence became a joke to me.

Other than that....season 2 was a vast improvement.

Netflix, through promotions, insists that I watch this.

I think not. Fool me once...

Two seasons of Iron Fist, one season of Defenders, and a cameo in the second season of Luke Cage, and still no costume and no shave. The mask is teased, but there is no payoff. If Daredevil can have his costume, I don’t understand why Iron Fist is taking so long to don his.

I have no problem with the casting, but I am getting tired of characters who appear clean shaven in the comics sporting facial hair in the MCU. Apparently secret identities and razors aren’t part of this universe.

Davos seems to like the mask.
