People are happy most Marvel characters will be under one roof but do you think Disney acquiring Fox  is good for television. In other threads there has been comments about Family Guy and Disney's "family" image. Fox seems to have some different feeling content than the other networks, taking more chances. Where would a show like Gotham be or The Orvil? Will that be different when Disney takes over?

People act like Touchstone or Miramax didn’t exist under Disney. Or that nude sex scenes don’t happen at least once a season on Netflix’s Marvel shows.

Exactly.  Disney, the company, has many different brands to fit all kinds of audiences.  Acquiring Fox would just be another brand.  That's the whole reason they want to purchase Fox in the first place.  Their subscription-only digital streaming option goes live in 2019.  Disney wants the content from both the movie and television side to add to their library.  They know they will be in completion with Netflix, Amazon and Hulu who are already far ahead of the game.  The historical aspect of the film studio coupled with the prodigious output of the television studio just adds to their portfolio.

They are.  That's why there are ratings. I hardly think anyone is going to take umbrage over DEADPOOL when/if Disney acquires Fox because they're the same people that made it a billion dollar franchise. Hell, DEADPOOL already has the Marvel Studios logo.  Hardly an earth shattering shift.

My understanding, also, is that Disney isn't acquiring the TV networks.  Just everything else.  So it shouldn't effect TV at all, other than maybe the couple of X-Men shows being potentially moved to a different network/service, if they're even still running at the time of acquisition.

Not the Fox network, but they’d acquire the FX cable channel, as well as 20th Century Television, which produces a lot of the shows that air on Fox, and FX Productions.

Just to clarify, Disney is not in competition with Hulu as they currently own 30% of Hulu. Fox also holds a 30% stake in Hulu and if the merger goes through, Disney would then hold a controlling 60% interest in Hulu which is reportedly one of the major reasons they are interested in Fox to begin with (along with the 20th Century Fox studio & catalog).

I had a thought the other day that could be one very cool outcome of the Disney/Fox merger. We have all been asking about how Disney will integrate X-Men/Fantastic Four/etc. into the MCU. In this new world imagine seeing Wolverine introduced in a fight with the Hulk! Sure we all want to know who will play Wolverine, Reed Richards, etc. but imagine an Incredible Hulk 181 style face-off as a way to bring Wolverine into the MCU. It might also allow Disney to bring in other classic X-Men elements into the MCU.

With this deal now on track for closure, I'll be very surprised if there isn't a post-credits teaser for either X-Men or Fantastic Four now being part of the MCU.

It wouldn't take much to show a newspaper headline or TV blasting a news item: "Another mutant attack rocks New York City! Where are the Fantastic Four?" Leading to a familiar fire-signal over a very familiar building.
