Not one thing to make me want to see it.

Sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Most likely true, JB. Then again, you could say that about most Godzilla films.

Goodzilla films, for me, have a kind of goofy charm. Don't see that here.

There is no doubt in my mind I will be seeing this.
My son is already talking about it.
Please, let's keep the human scenes to a respectable percent of the movie...but they probably won't.

Considering the crap I grew up watching and loving, these films have an extraordinarily low bar to clear with me. I'll happily take the opportunity to bask in the reflected light of Ghidorah on the big screen.

I'd like a minimum of human time, too, but one must admit it's a conceit of the genre. If there's going to be a pointless human A-plot, I think it should take a cue from GODZILLA: FINAL WARS and make the main characters ninjas instead of scientists.

Ehhh...

Really odd use of "Claire de Lune" for a daikaiju film trailer...

This is why Hollywood wins. "Why should we be faithful to the look or feel of the characters? The fans will come anyway."

Godzilla as an environmental disaster movie? No thanks.

And do these monsters only show up now at night in the middle of a monsoon? Spring for some daytime shots, people.

****

It's the goofy films that I don't like, which is most of them (a few sequences aside, like when Ghidorah is destroying things by himself in GHIDORAH, THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER, before the big silly fight with the other kaiju). The only ones I like all the way through are the ones that did "serious" and did it well, which aren't that many.

A good case could be made that GOJIRA (1954) should've had no sequels, but it did far too well for that to ever be a possibility.

God no. The ninjas were even more boring than the usual scientists. FINAL WARS was unwatchable.

By the way, KING KONG APPEARS IN EDO (1938).

What-what-whaaaat???

(Most pre-war Japanese films were destroyed, and this was allegedly one of them!)
