Actually you're right Shaun, that is a better choice.  I loved Ant Man and the Wasp so maybe Reed would have the right stuff to make an FF film work

I'm very glad to hear about this.

I honestly have no idea who the right director would be for an FF movie.

The Rousso Brothers have done a great job with the Marvel movies they've directed, but they can't direct everything.

I agree that Gunn wouldn't be the right person. Keep him doing the overtly comedic films.

Who out there does quality cosmic epic movies today?

=====
Not Lucasfilm.

I'm of two minds about the rehiring.
I think the jokes were tasteless but just
jokes, right. Many of the jokes were a
back and forth with a convicted child
pornographer. That's troubling. I would
hope that at sometime, police investigated
Gunn's potential involvement with his
Twitter buddy. If he was investigated and
cleared of charges, I say let him direct.

That said, after listening to plenty of
victims of child molestation, I think
there is a disturbing underground culture
that accepts sexual child abuse in
Hollywood. For the sake of potential
victims, I hope I'm completely wrong.

I'm just going to throw it out there, I like the idea of Robert Duncan McNeill as a director for the FF.  He has been building a solid resume to take on the role with his career.  He has a ton of episodes of Chuck behind him. I like that for the action and the comedic aspects that are played straight. I liked the family dynamic amidst all that as well.  He has also done good episodes of Supernatural, again for the family dynamic.  And he has a lot of sci fi in there too.

Excellent interview with James Gunn - thanks for sharing that, Doug.  Refreshing to see a director I admire share his own self exploration with a difficult situation.
