Hey JB. I just picked up the PENTEL ARTS,
POCKET BRUSH, MEDIUM BRUSH PEN. It's a
refillable pen with a tip that is an
actual brush. I don't know about different
sizes but I love the medium size and how
the thing works. Anyway, the forum has
discussed the problems the PITT Pens brush
pen has had. I found this and have
replaced it.

Stephen, if you mean this one, they are fantastic! Haven't had anything resembling the tip problems of the Pitt Brush, because (as you say) it's actually a brush!
Also, if you haven't tried this white pen, you will be impressed. You have to get the ink going before you use it (have scrap handy) but once you do the line is both slender and really opaque white. |

I’ve been using one of these for years, and I have to think JB had tried
one already.
IMO the tip of this brush is too flimsy.

I have the pocket brush and like it. Another option that I have seen Walden Wong make use of is the Pentel Aquash brush. It is a disposable water color brush with a refillable barrel. That is the next tool I want to try. I love my Raphael and Windsor Newton brushes, but gotta try new things.

I find that those Pentel Brush Pens are really good.
The former has a hard body case and the cartridge provides a steady flow of ink. So a quick sweep of the hand can provide a dry brush-like stroke. The latter is a soft body, which allows a level of control to how wet/juicy you want the ink through the bristles.

Refillable would mean a good deal to me... I used to pull apart Pigma Micron pens and inject the felt inside with new ink and they'd be good for at least four refills. Their various sized tips had a little flexibility, and if a big '08' got mashed a bit it would be moved over to just filling in black areas.

Rebecca, the Pentel Arts Brush Pen is
refillable. The one I bought, which I
believe is the one Conrad linked came with
the pen and two ink barrels.

Brian Stelfreeze turned me onto the Pentel Color bush but it's knida big.
(My 11x17 printer has a bad print head so no blue line print outs for me anytime soon, Maybe office depot??)

The Pentel Pigment Brush Pen is a must have for inkers. The pocket medium brush pen is good as well, best thing to do is try them both. Either way you will not be disappointed.

I've been using a Pentel FP 10 refillable brush pen for years. I really like it and I LOVE that it's refillable.Highly recommended.

Looking at it on amazon.ca and it looks like there are real bristles as opposed to those synthetic rubbery tips on older brushpens (and eye-liners). It's possible I might try this out as I have used brushes in the past, something that works like that without having to dip and wipe, dip and wipe could be great. I also used dip pens but once I found I could vary width decently with the Pigma Micron things I never went back... here's a bit of a weird thing I did for a sf magazine meant to look like a '50s illustration but all Pigmas (and maybe depending on your screen size larger than the original). Unfortunately my better stuff is all on 3.5" diskettes.
For about the last fifteen or twenty years I've barely done anything and finished what I did do with Sharpie marker. I'll also have to get a new large flat-bed scanner if I'm going to get back into things. There's an Epson that might work that doesn't cost a small fortune... so maybe that one. I wish there was one for 11x17" with dedicated b&w presets for us! Dream on I know... :^)
