A slightly morbid topic, I realize, but here it goes:
My 8-year old son is somewhat obsessed with the Ramones' "Blitzkrieg Bop" at the moment, after its end-credits inclusion in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING; and his guitar teacher has chosen this song as his next study (after working on AC/DC's "Back in Black" for a few months)...
Anyway, we've both been on a little Ramones kick lately, and I sadly realized once again that every original member of the band has been deceased for a few years now (when founding member & former drummer Tommy Ramone shuffled-off in 2014). And it made me wonder: How many other notable groups no longer exist, and are all (hopefully) playing in the great beyond?
Certainly there are plenty of bands with only a single surviving member (the Bee Gees, Badfinger, Big Star, to name a few), but with over 60 years of rock 'n roll to look back on, I'm somewhat surprised that there aren't more noted examples of entire bands that are no longer with us.
The only other one I can think of for now is The Jimi Hendrix Experience, which may have been the first such example (when drummer Mitch Mitchell passed in 2008). Any others that the Forum can think of?
