I am the proud owner of 23 of these EDITIONS, be they ARTIST or ARTIFACT, and, I pull that shrink wrap off immediately, smell that new book smell, and immerse myself in those pages until I buy another one!
20 years ago, I predicted the TPB/OMNIBUS/ESSENTIALS/AE revolution when I told my Comics Dealer that it would be easier for people to read entire stories that way. He thought it was going to be single issues forever.
I had just switched jobs from 11 years in a printing/graphics design company. and could see the writing on the wall. The pre-press part of the job was getting easier and easier. No more slaving in a darkroom meant faster turnarounds, and we would eventually be able to reprint ANYthing.
We made a deal for a percentage off my monthly bill. I would GIVE him my floppies, (except ALPHA FLIGHT and other amazing books that touched my soul), and he would, when the day comes, offer me TPB/OMNIBUS/ESSENTIALS of books I gave him at a reduced cost.
It's really worked out for me. I have space, and all the stories of my youth, plus I still get monthly books.
I love comics.

Yahoo!! Mine has arrived today too!
So looking forward to sitting down and looking through this at leisure but at the moment it's sat, unopened, in it's delivery box upstairs.
I don't know when I'm going to get a chance to look through it properly as I'm downstairs looking after my seriously ill mother and trying to catch up on loads of paperwork.
Think It's going to have to be saved as a treat for another day unfortunately.
Something special for me to really look forward to perusing though.

I'm so glad IDW published this edition. (and the FF, of course) I've spent many hours over the last few decades looking at these printed pages, but seeing them like this is as close as we can get to the original line-work. Amazing.
Nice little extra is the sketch of Cyclops, Colossus, Nightcrawler and Wolverine together in the gallery section. I've never seen that drawing before.

I picked mine up yesterday and spent the night looking it over. Very cool to see some of these pages, especially some of the dedications to Jim Warden and others that picked up the art when it became available.

What with the X-MEN ELSEWHEN thread and the release of this book, I am firmly in the grip of X-Men Fever. If it continues, I may need Urgent Care, or possibly a long hospital stay (not because I am actually sick, but to give me time to read my collection of JB X-Men comics).
I have been poring over this book every night since I picked it up last week. I love that it is an Artifact Edition, because it gives samples from JB’s whole run. Rather than reading a full story like the Artist’s Edition, it gives the reader a chance to focus on the art. And each night, a page has led me to pull the printed stories off the bookshelves to dive into the stories.
I particularly love that the #136 art is on the cover of the market edition I have. It was the first X-Men comic I bought myself (although my brother had some Cockrum and JB backissues, so I wasn’t plopped in without some knowledge of the characters). Seeing the actual art in the book, it’s great to see a cameo by none other than Leonard McCoy in the corner box, saying “She’s Dead, Jim” - a great gag, and some nice foreshadowing for what would come with JB’s recent Star Trek work.

I just picked up both of these last Friday . JB's was a trip down memory lane. Outstanding and covers everything from 108 on. This is an awesome book and your missing out if you don't have.

I echo the sentiments of above, this book is stunning. To my eye at least, I think it confirms something I’ve been curious about for a long time.
Due to spotty distribution this side of the Atlantic, my first exposure to a lot of these issues was through the British monthly magazine, Rampage, a black and white A4 magazine.
In issue 112, it looks like someone else had a hand in the inks as well as Terry Austin, but I’ve never heard mention of it. Maybe I’m wrong, but if anyone knows for sure, I’d love to find out.
