In my pre teens (early 70's), only one of my locations had a spinner rack. The rest of my comic book treasure trove locations had them alongside the magazines. If another kid was at the spinner rack, we'd help each other find the titles one wanted. Kinda cool.

Could an alternative to comic stores be Ice Cream truck
comic stores?

Eww. The comics get rolled, and get all sticky when you put ice cream in them... and that ice cream is almost never very good.

But the way, if you think $300 is a lot
for a spinner rack, try buying the plastic
DC Comics bullet badge "keeper" that fits
between the metal bars. Currently there is
one available on Ebay and they want $160
for it. This is a small piece of plastic.

I've got a Spinner rack at my store. this one is well worth the money. It is redesigned so  the books don't get damaged. The bars a thicker and go up to just below the top staple. There is also a flat bar on the bottom to protect as well. I'd happily trade my 1200 96 pocket rack for more spinners!
