LINK(Sadly, notice how the idiots in programming slap a blurb for the next show across the most poignant scene from the final series ending! Idiots!)

It's a shame they didn't cover the original pilot (with John Savident in place of Brian Blessed and a different Baldrick) which sadly doesn't seem to be on YouTube anymore. It was remade as episode four of the first series.
"One more guess!"

My favorite TV ever. Other than my kids might be the best thing the ex ever gave me.

I liked it from start to finish. I think the best episode was the one with Robbie Coltrane, where Baldrick seems to have burnt his sausage-less (and aardvark-less) dictionary, and is seconded by three romantic poets.

This show has been on my "to watch" list, like, forever. Need to see if I can VoD it, or something.

Soooo many good lines in series 2, & it hadn’t yet fallen into ‘tick the box’ formula where you were waiting for the same lines to crop up each episode.

I can't stand the first season. (It's way too different to what follows, and I only saw it after the later seasons, so the differences stood out even more.) But Blackadder II, I genuinely believe is the funniest series there has ever been of any show. It's just sheer perfection to me, with each episode being a true classic. The balance of personalities in that era was complete genius, and Edmund was never better. Such a wonderfully selfish character that somehow you couldn't help but admire. I wish we'd had more of him.

Just think, if it had been cancelled after the underwhelming first series!

Let's not be too hard on the first series. It was not as good as what followed, but it was better than a lot of what was around it. If I ranked the series in order it would be S2, S3, S4.......... S1. S1 suffers mostly in comparison to what followed. (And while I consider S2 best overall, S3 is my favorite Adder.)

That is true. I suppose there is some quality in the first season, but yeah, way behind the others. Thank goodness it wasn't cancelled after that first series!
