Looking around the web, I'm starting to see samplings of people trying their hands at inking the first post in this thread, and across the board there seems to be one thing that's consistent: the pages look dead.This is the magic that professional inkers bring to the equation, of course. The ability to look at pencils and ask themselves "What did he want here?" In other words. what kind of line should be applied to what's on the page. What should be smoothed out, what should be kept scruffy. In too many instances, these would be inkers bring the same line to everything, so all the life falls out of it. I'm tempted to take a crack at inking it myself, on the back, with my light table. Then flop it in Ps to see what it looks like. Maybe.

These are fantastic! So much fun.
I’d been inking some things on my iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil for a while, but my screen cracked some time ago and it doesn’t work. This is killing me, it would be so fun to give it a try.

Maybe.... not.Just gave it a little whirl, but the paper I used is too thick for me to read the pencils from the back, despite how bright the light table is.

That list is pretty much useless. Look at the issue numbers. Obviously it is one of the MANY such lists that plotted out possible stories, and were abandoned. I don't even remember most of them, having long ago "dragged to the trash" what was no longer being considered.Something like X-MEN ELSEWHEN -- which I remind everyone is a complete frantasy -- would not follow those guidelines. Not even a little bit.

I can understand that. I suppose I was thinking "breather" more in reference to how in the early-mid 60s it wasn't at all unusual for Lee-Kirby-Ditko, etc., to have one-issue adventures. One aspect of your "Fantastic Four" run that I appreciated very much was that you did those kinds of stories.

That panel of 'Wolverine' transforming into whateverthehellthatis really surprised me.
Even a 3 page funsies exercise by JB manages an interesting twist! Now I want to turn the page to read the rest of the story!

It's considered an 'incorrect' opinion on the interwebs but my favourite inker over your pencils JB, IS you. Always loved it and if you ever did a regular comic again I'd love to see that 'partnership' back.
