Well.... I wasn't my intent to trap the gang in an unending loop! In the "second issue" the action would pick up from Cyclops musing on how differently the day had gone from what he expected, and proceed without the flashback.

Not that such things count for much! I've been amazed, over the years, by how quickly costumes will change, once the original artist departs. One glaring example was Neal Adams' black and white Angel costume, on which the white panel changed configuration with the very next issue after Neal left.

(Small confession: I actually preferred Sal Buscema's version, as it was easier to draw!! But I used Neal's version whenever I was called upon to portray our Mr. Worthington -- except in THE CHAMPIONS, where it was out of my hands.)

I've mentioned before that I was mystified by readers who insisted Jean and Ororo should have recognized each other in GSXM1, if their meeting was "real" as recounted in XMHY. I would respond that a) they met again in the middle of a battle, and b) they had plenty of time for a reunion on the trip home. Now, reading those old stories, I realize those having trouble with my structure were raised on Claremont comics, where expositional dialog takes precedence, no matter what the scenario.

Argh!
