Adam, Plastic Man #1 was quite good IMHO.

I'm not familiar with the character, but this comic was a nice mixture of film noir and funny comedy, with quite decent art.

I don't know about the "original origin" of this character, but in this comic an origin is briefly glanced at in a flashback, as something recent.
