The world is trying too hard to be gender neutered.
Re beauty pageants? Aren't they, like you know, voluntary? (exceptions are under aged children forced by their parents.)
Re body building? Aren't they voluntary?
If a participant volunteers to enter a competition that is based on physical appearance, isn't that their right...their freedom of choice?
As much as there are those in the world who wish to deny we all look different, nothing will ever change that fact. Being attracted to others or being attractive to others is in our genetic code. It's instinct.
When I was a manager, and a married man, I could understand the STRICT rules at work about not complimenting a woman. Manager's were a target more than co-workers. When you really think about, why would a married man and manager compliment a woman, right?
But dammit, if I thought a woman's look was great, I complimented her anyway. But it was always those who knew me well, it was always tasteful, and we had a pre-existing rapport, and they knew I wasn't hitting on them. Confident women love compliments. I even appreciated when I got compliments too. Women would only go as far as saying "nice color".
I've always found it interesting how much one can get away with if the other is attracted to you. But if the other is not attracted to you, you have to guard yourself so severely to avoid a lawsuit? Talk about a swinging pendulum.
