It's that time of the season again... what's on your radar this summer?

Have seen/will see/want to see:

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

DEADPOOL 2

SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY

THE PRODUCERS (1968) (re-release)

HEREDITARY (early word is "best horror film of the year" so far?)

INCREDIBLES 2 (one for the entire family)

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM

ANT-MAN & THE WASP

YELLOW SUBMARINE (re-release)

HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 3: SUMMER VACATION (with the kids)

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT (Tom Cruise, the guy you hate to love)

TEEN TITANS GO! TO THE MOVIES (again with the kids)

Disney's CHRISTOPHER ROBIN (my youngest daughter wants to see this, but director Marc Forster is a huge turn-off to me!)

THE SPY WHO DUMPED ME (possibly the one date night my wife & I get this year!)

~and~

2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (if the 70mm re-release ever makes it out my way)

Avoiding:

THE FIRST PURGE (this series holds no appeal to me)

MAMMA MIA: HERE WE GO AGAIN! (great music, first film was kinda awful)

All the rest (wide releases, per BoxOfficeMojo):

ACTION POINT
ADRIFT
*UPGRADE (rental)
HOTEL ARTEMIS
*OCEAN'S 8 (rental)
RACE 3
TAG
SUPERFLY (2018)
SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO

*THE EQUALIZER 2 (rental)
UNFRIENDED: DARK WEB
THE DARKEST MINDS
MILE 22
SEARCHING
DOG DAYS
THE MEG
ALPHA
THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS
THREE SECONDS
*CRAZY RICH ASIANS (rental)
A.X.L.

I typed that movie title, yet totally forgot I'd seen the ads and thought it looked fun, too (must be because "UPGRADE" is a rather non-descript name for an action flick).  Thanks for the reminder, Paul... adjusting my list for a future rental!

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the previous JURASSIC PARK adventure, so I'm sure I'll check the new one -- tho I shall forego the theater experience.

The first EQUALIZER also surprised me, but again I'll wait for cable.

Nothing else.

Summer is usually the Season of Death for cinemas over here. Maybe because we have 6 + months of Winter... Back in the day, all the big summer releases usually got put on hold until early Autumn before being released at the theatre.

Anyways, ANT-MAN & THE WASP and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE might interest me.

I enjoyed the first ANT-MAN (which is probably down to me not being familiar with the comic book).

The last couple of MI movies have been surprisingly fun. The new one is even filmed at a spectacular location (see link) in Norway, so I'd like to see that.

I'll check out the horror movies, probably ANT-MAN & THE WASP and I'm likely to see INCREDIBLES 2.

I'm not seeing THE MEG, though.  The book that it's based on is about as deep as a SyFy movie and I don't see why this movie's going to the theatears instead of that network.

Have seen; AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Will see at theater; ANT-MAN & THE WASP

Want to see as soon as I can at home;
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE-FALLOUT, hadn't been an MI(movie) fan, but
I  seen the last one recently and
                                                                    really liked it.

       INCREDIBLES 2
THE EQUALIZER 2- I've seen the first one multiple times.Denzel
may not be able to make a bad movie.

Want to see eventually;
         JURASSIC WORLD; FALLEN KINGDOM
         TAG- stupid fun
SOLO; A STAR WARS STORY- morbid curiosity.

I haven't heard of a lot of these, so the list may expand as I do.

The MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE films have really grown on me over the years... the only one I saw in the theaters was Part 2 (easily the worst!), but I've very much enjoyed each new one afterwards, when I've watched them at home.  I may need to make the effort to see Part 6 (!!!) on the big screen this summer... 'cause who knows how many more of these are left, before Tom Cruise kills himself in the Next Big Stunt gone horribly awry!

Opening this weekend is OCEAN'S 8 (almost guaranteed to take the #1 spot), HEREDITARY and HOTEL ARTEMIS.

I may try to catch HEREDITARY on my own, at some point later in the week... I try to at least catch one good horror movie every year, and I'm hoping this one is more in line with THE CONJURING 2 (which freaked me out for weeks, when I saw it two summers ago), and less like the updated IT, which I ultimately thought was too goofy to be really scary.

So the summer movie season in the States has wrapped-up... my quick rundown of what I saw:

Favorites:
INCREDIBLES 2 - Perfect blend of visuals, humor & score
2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (IMAX re-release) - A personal favorite, finally seen on the big screen

Enjoyable:
AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - Fun but exhausting
DEADPOOL 2 - Not as funny as Part 1
ANT-MAN & THE WASP - About as good as Part 1
TEEN TITANS GO! TO THE MOVIES - Most laughs I had in the theater this summer

Mediocre:
SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY - Shockingly dull
JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM - Just really stupid
HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 3: SUMMER VACATION - Not as funny as the first two, but typically great visuals

Pleasantly surprised:
THE MEG - Thought it would be crap--a solidly enjoyable time!

The worst:
CHRISTOPHER ROBIN - Can't even begin to list all the things that were wrong with this ill-conceived mess

What I ended up seeing:

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
DEADPOOL 2
SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY
INCREDIBLES 2
JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM
ANT-MAN AND THE WASP
TEEN TITANS GO TO THE MOVIES
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT
CRAZY RICH ASIANS
SEARCHING (just saw this last night! Somehow got through half the movie before recognizing Debra Messing as the police detective.)

I generally liked everything I watched, the exceptions being:

JURASSIC WORLD - I had low expectations, and it somehow still managed to be dumber.
MI - FALLOUT - I didnít dislike it, but I was disappointed that the action took a step back to a Bourne-style Ethan Hunt making decisions in the spur of the moment, rather than the heist-oriented teamwork that they got right in MI3 and GHOST PROTOCOL.

I'll see Avengers and Ant-Man eventually. Everything else is a "maybe".
