You've got them. We ALL do. That artist, or two, or three, who you really like on any number of projects - but who is the ideal artist for a certain character, no matter who else he draws, or who else draws that character.

So pick your five or six artists, and for each - select their seminal character. The one that they OWN and no one else can touch. In your opinion, of course.

Make it only one character, or a team at most. For example, you might say that Ross Andru just does Wonder Woman better than anyone else. Or our esteemed host is THE X-Men artist. (For such ambiguous groups, you might want to identify who was in that group. Obviously, the Avengers would have more choices than the Fantastic Four.)

No ties or runner up characters, please. The artist and the character only.

My choices include:

Mr. Byrne - Captain America
Gene Colan - Daredevil
Alan Davis - Captain Britain
Steve Ditko - Dr. Strange
Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez - the Joker
Curt Swan - Superman

What do you like, gang?

I liked Dave Cockrum's two issues of Ms. Marvel in the late '70s. #20 & 21, so number one on my list would be a nice long run of them (all he ever did besides those two were some promotional art and the covers to the next two issues). :^(

Ruined being done by anyone else but...
Joe Kubert - Hawkman
Gil Kane - Green Lantern
Kurt Schaffenberger - Supergirl
Marie Severin - Dr. Strange
Russ Manning - Magnus Robot Fighter
Steve Leialoha - Spider-Woman

and because I can't follow rules no matter how I try...
John Byrne - Space 1999
Mike Ploog - Planet Of The Apes
Tom Sutton - all comics with giant rats and sewers in them!
